Re-enactment of WWI Battle of Beersheba
From myForum, 1 Nov 2012, by G Lauren:
95 years ago, the Ottoman-controlled city of Beersheba fell to troops from Britain, Australian and New Zealand, in a battle that helped bring an end to the Ottoman Empire and the First World War.
A critical part of the major battle was reenacted this week in the dunes surrounding the now-Israeli city, namely, a three-kilometer charge by the 4th Light Horse Brigade of the Australian Mounted Division.
The recreation was the work of the Australian Light Horse Association, many of whose members are descendants of soldiers who took part in the battle in 1917.
