Magen David Adom (MDA) is Israel's first aid service, in cooperation with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

MDA in WA is hosting a public talk by Uri Shacham, a Senior Paramedic with MDA Israel.

Uri was one of the first people on the ground at the Carmel Fires , to which MDA responded with 80 Ambulances, and he was also one of the first MDA People into Haiti to aid in the disaster there.

URI SHACHAM	Uri served MDA from 1991-1994 as a youth volunteer at a station near Haifa. In the Israel Defence Forces, he served as a paramedical manpower officer and, upon discharge in 1998, he joined MDA. His first experience as a paramedic was to treat those injured as a result of the 200-2005 Intifada. In 2004 Uri became a paramedic instructor, and in 2005, he was appointed as the Gilboa Regional Dispatch Supervisor in the period of the second Lebanese war, spending days and nights in the Afula MDA station as thousands of rockets and missiles fell over the northern part of Israel. From 2007 to 2010, Uri was Chief Instructor of the MDA Paramedic School and Deputy Chief Paramedic. In January 2010, Uri was one of a five-member MDA contingent in Haiti, where he served at the joint Norwegian-Canadian-MDA hospital at Port au Prince. In September 2010, Uri was appointed as head of the MDA Director-General’s Bureau. Uri met his beautiful wife, also a medic for MDA, in the course of his work in 2002. Today they live on Kibbutz Sarid (25 minutes from Haifa) and have two wonderful daughters.
